Centre Awards and Trophy Day

To be eligible for a Centre award of any kind, an athlete must have participated in at least 50% of Centre competition events. Trophy Day is held prior to the State Championships and recongises athletes and members for their contribution and efforts over the season.

Summer

The following awards are awarded for each age-group

Age Champions
For each event entered an athlete is allocated points on a scale from 0 to 100. Athletes also receive points for Pb’s obtained and attendance. At the end of the season the total points the athlete has earned throughout Centre Competitions is calculated based on their best 10 weeks. The two highest scoring athletes in each age group receive a trophy as do the runners up.

Coaches Award
The coaches award is presented to an athlete in their group who has demonstrated particular courage, effort or determination during the season.

PB  Award
The PB award is presented to the athlete in their age-group who has the highest number of PB’s over the season.

The following awards are overall Centre Awards

Decathlon Trophy
This trophy recognises the athlete with the highest points aggregate from the Centre competition across all age groups.

Junior, Intermediate and Senior Champions
This trophy recognises the athlete with the highest points aggregate from the Centre competition (a male and female) across the following age groups:

Junior: U7-U9       Intermediate  U10-U12             Senior U13-U17

McDonald Trophy
The McDonald Trophy is awarded to the U/14-U/15 age group to the athlete who attends consistently, participates in all events and sets a good example to younger athletes.

Allen Tyson Trophy
Is awarded to an senior athlete in the Centre showing an athletic, competitive, reliable, mature and dedicated approach to athletics.

Keith Robinson Trophy
Is awarded to the athlete who has the highest number of PB’s over the season across the Centre.

Golden Lock
This award recognises an outstanding contribution made to the Centre by a member.

Special Contribution Shield
This award recognises special contributions made to the Centre by a young member.

Winter

Junior, Intermediate and Senior Champions
This trophy recognises the athlete with the highest points aggregate from the winter competition (a male and female) across the following age groups:

Encouragment Awards

The winter coaches present 2 awards to athletes who have demonstrated particular courage, effort or determination during the season.
